Validation
The purpose of validation in our profession is to ensure the defensibility and fairness of interpretations based purely on performance -nothing else. The examples in the readings compare a test with a judicial trial. The judge and the jury must be fair... and the same is expected of you. Say your supervisor (who is an expert in English Teaching) asks to speak with you because of some negative results in your students' performance according to the test scores, how can you ensure the defensibility and fairness of your tests?

How can I ensure the defensibility and fairnes of my tests? Well by checking the quality, security and consistency of my tests. By listing guidelines, standards and best practice resources, measuring knowledge, skills and aptitudes and interpreting the test scores with regard to a criterion. Raquel
ReplyDeleteI think that I can ensure the defensibility and fairness of my test by showing the supervisor that my test content is based on the topics that were taught to the students. Also, by showing him that the method that I used is coherent with the way in which the students were asked to work with the material. Finally, by showing him that the criteria that I used were the most appropriate in order to grade the students’ outcome in a specific ability or task.

you can ensure defensibility with evidence. teachers investigate by testing and evaluate their students. we gather students file to notice their progress. if they are failing or smth is wrong or wear we look for our previous evidence(grades) to see what happen. the same as the case we have to look for all the evidence as possible, checking, get familiar whit it, evaluate and then have a final veredict.

I think that I would show him or her the planning, the lesson plans, and the materials that were used in the classes as evidence of my performance in order to show him or her that my test was about specific topics that were taught. Then I would show him that I was testing what was taught, and the design of the test was proper to evaluate a specific skill.

I can ensure the validation of my test by telling my boss that I have not included nothing but the contents the students have studied in a period of time. Then I would research about the other student's results and if they have done well, that means the other students didn not prepare enought for the test.

I think that we always have an evidence of our job, and it would be good to show that what we have in our lesson plan was taught and that we included the contents that were planned to be evaluated. So, if the students have failed must have other reasons...They were not prepared, they forgot about the test, or they have another problem..

Well I think that i can ensure my test defensibility and fairness showing him/her my lesson plans and the activities that i did to teach and evaluate the topics that i though during the semester and that these are the same that i put in the test. But unfortunately sometimes studets got bad score because some of then don't study and others feel nervous at the moment to do the test. and this factors we can do nothing because they are out of our hands.
