  1. according with the rhetorical which is about what we are going to write in a paper, it is not always easy for a 2l. because in order to trasmit our ideas we have to reorganized an generetated ideas. for instance for writing a composition, we have make an outline and its support is not always easy, specially when we do not have enough vocabulary or conncetors. about the question in pag 250. It can affect a novice writter if they do not how to join the ideas. but for an advanced
sts it won-t because you can use the vocabulary as a guide to write smth.

  2. I think that the change in wording doesn't change the rhetorical problem, because learners are going to use not only the vocabulary from the columns but also they are going to add some other words, and doing this they are showing that they can not only add words but also they are joining ideas to give meaning. On the other hand, I think that the alteration to the direction won't change from a language practice to a writing practice, because learners are going to focus on forming, constructing and ordering individual sentences, and checking that they are using all the words from the list. So, content would not be as important as form.

  3. I think that the change in the direction doesn’t change the rhetorical problem because the writer has to write a composition not only using the words in the list, but also his own words and ideas. The list is only an option that he can use in the composition, if that will help to enrich the organization of the elements that the writer wants to include in his work. Also, I think that the writing process involved will not change because the writer has to follow a specific pattern not matter if it is a control exercise or not. At the end the result is going to be a composition with all its elements.
Finally, I think that the alteration in the direction does not change the activity from a language practice to a writing practice because for me both of directions are writing practice. The difference is that one is control practice and the other is a free practice.

  4. For me, the change in wording in activity B changes the retorical problem because this time, the activity is focused in the structure of the task (form). I mean, the appropriate use of words, cohetion, coherence etc. In activity A the requirement is only the use of a determinated numbers of words (content). Raquel

  5. The change of wording in the activity B would help in the rethorical thing but just a little bit. Students will always be influenced by the words given. The rethorical would suffer just a slight change. Students wold have a constant fight trying to write sentences with the words and at the same time make it coherent. I'm not saying the exercise is not worth but it would continue being a language exercise.
The exercise or direction should be different, a task where student put in practice their imagination and they feel free to write whatever they come out with but taking into account the target audience and a previous limited topic to write about. As we have read writing improves only with practice and language exercises are helpful to learn the properties of the second language as in exercise B where a list of verbs, nouns and subjects are given to encourage students to write.

  6. The rethorical aspect of writing is a complex issue in Second Language learners. It would be reached just if the student is constant in both reading and writing. Many students when they are asked to write something they start their composition on one topic and end up with a diferent one. What they don't know is that many aspects have to be taken into account like coherence, appropriate use of lexical words, discourse and the audience that the composition goes to.

  8. In my opinion I think that writing is the most difficult skill that students develop as 2L. The change in wording doesn't change the rhetorical problem because students add different words in order to develop the idea. And they are trying to get the attention from the audience in this case for the teacher. There is no alteration for a writing process because students must use their own ideas and they have to know how to put the ideas in order. In that moment we talk about coherency, grammar, vocabulary, etc.
